Having both grown up in the south, we somehow made it to almost 30 years old without ever having been to Savannah Georgia.
When I began looking for cities to visit for a birthday getaway for Justin’s 30th in October, Savannah was high up on the list and it didn’t take much perusing Pinterest or glowing recommendations from friends who had visited to convince me.
Savannah it was and just like that our trip was booked!
Our airbnb was the most charming little carriage house in Chatham Square right in the heart of downtown. All the restaurants, bars and shops were within a miles walk and the space was absolutely perfect!
We both love to travel and explore but don’t necessarily love being tied to a schedule so we made dinner reservations at night but left our days wide open and it was perfect!
Savannah is like a sleepy little town and doesn’t wake up until mid morning so if you like to sleep in, you’ll fit right in and get the day going around the same time that shops open, brunch spots begin to bustle and the city wakes up.
Even on “fun” trips we usually build a little work time each day so we started off with a work out with the crew at River Drive CrossFit (they were so kind & welcoming and the workouts were great!) and then got a few hours of work in before heading to a mid morning brunch to kick off the day.
Below is the skinny on where we ate and what we did + a list of where we didn’t make it to this trip but it on the list for our next visit!
We booked a last minute photo shoot on Friday afternoon with Savannah McGraw who is a local photographer to have a few shots of us together in such a beautiful city and it was the best decision we made on the trip!
I waited until the last minute to reach out and book with her because I was nervous about how much time it would take (Justin can only deal with shoots for so long haha) and working with a photographer I wasn’t familiar with but she was absolutely amazing! She was professional, able to accommodate our scheduled, she made it feels so easy, effortless, fun, we want home with some amazing photographs of us to remember our trip. If you’re visiting Savannah, I highly recommend booking a 30 minute session with her, you will be so glad you did!
